The Columbia University Sailing Team is a high-performance collegiate sailing team competing regionally in regattas throughout the northeast. Our team is composed of both seasoned sailors and members new to the sport, providing opportunities to sail at both casual and competitive levels. The organization is entirely student-run, lead by our board of officers and taught by our fabulous coach.
The sailing team has deep roots in the Columbia culture, beginning during WWII. We've been sailing ever since, representing Columbia well. We've had repeated success competing against other Ivy League sailing powerhouses, culminating in winning the 2002 Ivy League Championships, and we continue to work hard every season to improve and refine our sailing.
Members of the sailing team form close bonds both on and off the water. Frequent social events are held throughout the year, including a formal in both fall and spring semesters. In addition, the team travels every spring break for spring season preparations, a week-long experience that every sailor remembers and enjoys.
