Hobart Intersectional

The weekend of October 9/10 the Columbia team sailed in the Hobart Intersectional at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in upstate New York. Brendan Hannon (CC ’11) and Marie Johnson (BC ’12) sailed A division and John Croll (SEAS ’12) and Irene Jacqz (SEAS ’13) sailed B division. The first day the breeze was out of the north and was very shifty. The conditions were pretty challenging and it was a competitive regatta. B division had a couple good sets and a couple of bad sets on the first day, and much of the same for A division. Results improved on the second day as the wind was out of the south, providing more consistent breeze in which the team generally practices.

Columbia finished in 14th place, which was not ideal, although it did prepare the sailors for North 2 qualifier the next weekend, which is the team’s most important regatta to date.
